Fishing in Connecticut

In Connecticut, you can fish for trout, bass, pickerel, shad and other freshwater and saltwater fish. There are numerous lakes, ponds, rivers and streams to fish.

You must purchase a Connecticut fishing license if you are older than 16 years old.

You can charter a boat for a private party of 6 passengers to fish the Long Island Sound. Best fishing around is said to be in Connecticut. Fish for Bluefish, striped bass, flounder, cod, shark and tuna. Most Charter fishing boats supply tackle. You may have to pay extra for bait or chum.

Party Fishing boats are available on a first come first serve basis. Full day, half day and night trips are available. Party boats can carry up to 150 passengers depending on the size of the boat. You can find a party fishing boat at Niantic, Groton, Norwalk and Waterford.
