Connecticut State Parks and Forests are open year round. Check with the park for hours. You should make reservations to camp at State Parks. Seasonal passes are available to state residents.

Go boating, backpacking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, hunting, ice skating, picnicking, scuba diving, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, swimming, biking, mountain biking, hiking or just enjoy nature. Each park is different and therefore offers different outdoor activities.

If you want to hunt or fish be sure to check to make sure it is allowed and have all proper licenses and obey restrictions.

There are over 49 Connecticut State parks. A State Park is located in Bloomfield, Colchester, Derby, Durham, East Haddam, east Hampton, Griswold, Groton, Haddam, Hebron, Kent, Killingworth, Litchfield, Lyme, Madison, Masfield, Middlefield, New London, Niantic, Norfolk, North Canaan, Redding, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Torrington, Westport and other Connecticut towns and cities.

The West Thompson Lake Federal Park is located at North Grosvenordale off Rt. 12.

The Weir Farm Historic Site National Parks is located at Wilton near Rt. 102.

There are 10 Connecticut State Forests. A state forest is located in Barkhamsted, Colchester, Cornwall, Eastford, Ellington, Haddam, Litchfield, Union and Voluntown.
