Litchfield Hills is located in the northwest region of Connecticut.  To the South, it is bounded by Fairfield County Region. To the Northeast, its bounded by the River Valley Region. To the southeast, its bounded by the Greater New Haven Region. To the north, its bounded by the state of Massachusetts and to the west by the state of New York.

Appalachian Trail runs 57 miles through parts of east and northeast Connecticut but mostly through Litchfield Hills.

Lake McDonough is located on Rt. 219 off Rt. 44 in Barkhamsted which is near Torrington. You can go boating, hiking, swimming, fishing and picnicking. For nearby lodging see Torrington hotels.

Burlington State Fish Hatchery is located at 34 Belden Rd Torrington CT. off Rt. 4. The Fish hatchery produces both trout and salmon used for stocking Connecticut's waterways. You can go hiking in the area. Burlington is east of Torrington. For nearby lodging see Torrington hotels.
